Property Damage / Construction Litigation Associate
Location: New York City, NY
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 (plus bonus and comprehensive benefits package)
Overview:
Our client is a leading insurance law firm seeking a skilled Property Damage / Construction Litigation Attorney with between 2-5 years experience within the New York labor law and construction law environment.
The ideal candidate will have a background in both defense and prosecution, particularly in cases involving large insurers for construction and personal injury matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Handle insurance claims related to primary and excess general liability, specifically in the context of construction law and New York Labor Law.
- Manage and resolve complex litigation matters involving multiple parties and insurance carriers, aiming for cost-effective solutions.
- Advise insurance carrier clients on complex coverage issues, including initial coverage determinations, opinions, and risk transfer strategies related to additional insured coverage and tender demands.
- Develop and implement effective strategies for mediation and trial, ensuring client representation throughout the litigation process.
- Conduct thorough analysis of coverage and pursue risk transfer opportunities, managing litigation specifically related to construction cases.
- Collaborate with clients and provide counsel on expectations related to insurance carriers and claims divisions.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and admitted to practice law in New York and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in labor and construction law, with a focus on both defense and prosecution.
- Strong understanding of insurance law and defense practice.
- Proven ability to advise on complex coverage issues and litigation strategies.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
