Heat’s Charity Round-up for 2022

Giving back and getting involved in charitable events is a big part of the culture at Heat…

In 2022, we’re proud to have participated in a number of charitable events and initiatives. We’re excited to take our efforts even further in 2023. For the full round-up of events from the year, read on.

 

 

Laptop donations in partnership with Bristol Sport Foundation and DigiLocal – January

At the start of the year, continuing our ongoing partnership with Bristol Sport Foundation, we made our third donation to their Digital Inclusion project in partnership with DigiLocal. DigiLocal work to support under-represented young people in Bristol to develop their digital skills and talent. We donated another 9 desktop computers and 3 laptops, taking our total number of devices donated to 25. The devices donated will be repurposed, and then distributed to local families living in the digital divide.

Bristol sports foundation – Basketball – Feb

In February, 9 of our team members participated in a corporate basketball match in partnership with Bristol Sport Foundation, raising money for the Bristol Flyers community basketball programmes. Our team was coached by one of the Bristol Flyers’ first team players and then went head-to-head with other Bristol-based businesses to compete for the trophy.

Internationals Women’s Day – Business Clothes Donations – March

March saw the annual celebration of International Women’s Day. The team at Heat marked the event by choosing to support Smartworks by donating formal office wear. Smartworks provides a service that supplies ‘interview appropriate clothing that helps women feel equipped, confident and more likely to succeed at interview.’

 

Bristol Sport – Football – May

In May, the sun was shining for our next corporate sporting event raising money for Bristol Sport Foundation. 9 of our team from Heat formed a team of footballers for a five aside match.

Abseiling- £1305 – July

On Saturday 2nd July, 3 of our consultants participated in ‘Bristol’s Big Drop’ and abseiled 262ft down the Castlemead building, all in aid of St Peter’s Hospice. Through their fundraising efforts and kind sponsorship from family, friends, and colleagues, the trio were able to raise a grand total of £1305 for the hospice.

Pride Bake sale- £105 LGBTQ+ Foundation – July

In honour of Pride month and the return of Bristol Pride in Bristol after a hiatus due to Covid, we held a charity bake sale to fundraise for the LGBT Foundation and had some stunning homemade cakes and bakes brought in by our team. We were able to raise over £100 to donate to the cause.

Break the Cycle – September

In September, Heat was proud to sponsor the rescheduled Break the Cycle event which was finally able to take place; the original event was set to take place in the summer but had to be postponed due to the high temperatures. The event, which saw cyclists riding routes between 40-100 miles, raised thousands for the Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bristol Sport Foundation.

Macmillan Coffee morning- £180 – September

In September, teams across Heat’s Bristol and Manchester offices hosted coffee mornings to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We held a bake-off style competition, with close judging from a panel of some of Heat’s internal senior team. Some delicious bakes were brought in, and we raised a total of £180 for the cause.

Calm lost hours walk – October

 In October, our teams across Bristol and Manchester and our remote workers got involved in a walk and talk for the charity Mind, in aid of mental health and well-being awareness. It was a great opportunity for all of the teams to get involved, take some time away from desks to have open conversations, and get some fresh air (in spite of a patch of rain in both Bristol and Manchester).

Shoe Box Appeal – November

 In November, the teams across Bristol and Manchester got in the Christmas spirit early to put together and pack up shoeboxes containing gifts and essential items to gift to children in need, and dropping them off to the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child shoebox appeal. In total, the Heat team donated over 30 shoeboxes to the appeal.

Christmas Jumper day – December

On Christmas Jumper day, Heat staff got into the festive spirit and donned their best festive jumpers to raise money for Save the Children. We raised a total of £125 for the charity.
