Legal Cashier (Hybrid or Remote) 

A thriving niche Legal Practice in Manchester, is expanding and seeking a dynamic Legal Cashier to join their team. This full-time or part-time, temporary role offers flexibility and the potential for career growth within our modern law firm. Whilst the majority of the role can be performed remotely there is some office attendance required and would suit candidates in the North West.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial transaction records, including receipts, payments, and transfers.
  • Collaborate with the conveyancing department on property-related payments.
  • Process client payments and disbursements promptly.
  • Regularly reconcile client and office bank accounts.
  • Manage client account balances and interest payments.
  • Generate and review client invoices, ensuring accurate billing.
  • Provide billing support, addressing enquiries and discrepancies.
  • Manage petty cash and office expenses.
  • Stay updated with industry changes and technology.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties to support the department.


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a legal cashier or in a similar role within a solicitor’s practice.
  • Strong experience in handling high-value conveyancing transactions.
  • In-depth understanding of SRA accounting rules and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Proclaim accounting software.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and client confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Experience in a paperless office environment.
  • Preferred full UK driving license, but ability to commute to Eccles is essential.

Contract Details:

  • Fixed-term contract for 6 months covering maternity leave, with potential for permanency.
  • Flexible hours, with a minimum of 20 hours per week and can be full time.
  • Remote working with minimal office attendance (1-2 days per month), increasing during initial induction (1-2 days per week).


  • Competitive salary, negotiable for the right candidate. Guide £25-30k.
  • 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays and Christmas closure) – pro rata for part-time.
  • Option to purchase an additional 5 days of annual leave per year.
  • Time off in lieu (8 hours per month) and on your birthday.
