Job Description: Housing Disrepair Solicitor

Leading law firm within housing conditions litigation has an opportunity for a qualified solicitor with housing disrepair experience to join their team which advocates for tenants in sub-standard housing conditions.

The Role

Alongside senior solicitors drafting Particulars of Claim and Replies to Defences in housing conditions cases. Advocacy opportunities may be available depending on your experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review cases and draft Particulars of Claim based on instructions from fee earners.
  • Reply to defences for the claims you have drafted.
  • Assist fee earners with case assessments, risk evaluations, and procedural considerations.
  • Perform advocacy in hearings as required, based on your experience.

Key Tasks:

  • Review housing conditions case files and assist fee earners.
  • Draft and return Particulars of Claim within required timeframes.
  • Draft Replies to Defences and Counter Claims as necessary.
  • Conduct advocacy in allocation hearings if qualified.

Personal Skills:

  • Suitable for a qualified barrister, senior solicitor, or Bar Vocational Course graduate with housing law experience.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of housing conditions law (s 9/10/11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act).
  • Professionalism, confidence, and a drive to succeed.
  • IT literacy and good typing skills.
  • Commitment to staying updated on housing law and legal developments.
