Recruiter Managing This Role

Opportunity available for an experienced Court of Protection Fee Earner (Solicitor/Legal Executive) to join a growing team within a Legal 500 firm based in the centre of Manchester.

The role will involve:

  • Running your own varied caseload of deputyships and some personal injury trusts, arising from personal injury or clinical negligence claims.
  • Carrying out work on a broad range of deputyships matters.
  • Delegating to and being supported by paralegals.
  • Day to day contact with clients and their families, dealing with their individual lifestyle requirements, providing practical advice.
  • Supporting and protecting client’s needs on a wide range of issues including financial planning, management of their funds, assets, property and care arrangements.
  • Working with families, therapists, case managers, social services and local authorities, care providers, government bodies, benefits agencies, financial institutions, and other professional bodies.

Background and experience required: 

  • 2+ years’ experience in COP, ideally running your own caseload as a solicitor or legal executive. 
  • A commitment to excellent client care and court of protection work.
  • Able to set and manage client’s budgets and cashflow effectively. 
  • Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing, including dealing directly with clients.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Strong team working ethic.

  • Salary dependent on PQE level and experience of COP cases.
  • A minimum of 25 days’ annual leave (increasing with length of service) plus office closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • A one hour early finish, one Friday a month.
